An exceptional Georgian period Witch's Heart brooch set with flat-cut garnets. It's crafted in 15 karat rose gold and dates from the very early 19th century, circa 1800. The stones rest in foiled closed back settings that cause light to reflect back through them to enhance colour and brightness.

The Witch's Heart was a popular motif throughout the Georgian and early Victorian eras, the witches heart features a curved point at the bottom, and implied that the giver had become "bewitched" to fall in love with the recipient... in ancient times the heart was allegedly used to ward off witches and other evil spirits.
